After receiving his BFA and MFA in Communications from the University of Cincinnati, Dean Thompson immediately put his education to work as Creative Director and Vice President at Campus Media in NYC. While there, his team won a Clio for its 2001 Space Odyssey campaign and launched the acclaimed Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) campaign to U.S. colleges.

Dean then joined Joko Films Inc (the in-house film production company of John and Yoko Lennon) as Operations Manager where he oversaw all film and video production including the ABC Special Imagine, as well as the films, This is Not Here, and Ladies & Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones. Over the next two years he was the Co-Producer of Geraldo Rivera’s Good Night, America and worked on the ABC Network Special, One-to One: An Extraordinary Event.

Dean’s varied career also included ownership of movie theatres and multi-purpose venues in NY and Cincinnati. His experience extended to the production of telethons and other major events for the Arthritis Foundation of America, the SIDS Foundation, and the MS Foundation.

He was soon recruited to the corporate world by the American Express Company, NY where he managed a multi-million dollar production unit in charge of all internal American Express programming as well as cable TV specials for national distribution. He then moved to EFHutton as First Vice President and Director of EFHutton TV where he was responsible for all internal video and film communications including daily segments for the Financial News Network. In addition, he handled all broadcast advertising and promotion through the company’s internal agency.

After many years within the corporate universe, Dean founded OMI Communications where he served global clients with a concentration on financial services including MasterCard, UBS and PriceWaterhouse Coopers. Other corporate clients included Gulfstream Aerospace, UPS, KPMG and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Today, as Managing Partner of Beehive NYC, Dean brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company. His grasp of the latest communications technologies, matched with his proven creativity, work to create powerful programs to meet the communications objectives of Beehive clients.
